Junior Civil Engineer
Minimum Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
Required License(s):
- EIT Certification with AutoCAD Experience
- Must possess and maintain a current, valid Nebraska driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
Position Description:
Civil Engineer (Lincoln, NE) Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, zero to two years of experience, and working knowledge MS Office and GIS software. Successful completion of Part I of the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam is preferred.
Typical responsibilities include:
- Perform engineering assignments as part of a project team involved in the planning, organizing and development of complicated projects.
- Provide technical planning and design support on civil engineering projects.
- Prepare studies, letters, plans, specifications, and permits.
- Prepare engineering calculations and supporting analysis of alternatives.
- Develop hydrologic and hydraulic models.
- Perform research to solve specific design problems. Perform research techniques to analyze and validate design or theory concepts and record finding as part of project documents.
- Prepares preliminary sketches and designs of water, paving, storm, sewer, and grading projects
- Assist Project Engineers in calculating quantities of materials needed for a project, cost estimates, bid tabulations, design calculations, and construction contract documents.
- Conduct other miscellaneous tasks concerning Civil Engineering projects.
- Maintain excellent client relations.

- Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action
- Modern engineering methods and techniques
- Engineering features of design and construction problems
- Factors which influence the impact of transportation facilities on the environment, the community and the economy
- Prepare calculations, designs, details, cost estimates, plans, and specifications.
- Prepare technical correspondence and complete comprehensive reports
